  155.        InfoSearch is compatible with all supported forms of SGI
  156.        documentation.  Using a version 1.x InfoSearch client
  157.        application to access InfoSearch content from an InfoSearch
  158.        server that has been updated to version 2.x is _n_o_t

  234.        accessed via a web browser such as _n_e_t_s_c_a_p_e(1) or via the
  235.        InfoSearch client (which simply launches your desktop web-

  237.        Customize -> Utilities panel).  Use the URL
  238.        http://<hostname>/infosearch/ where <hostname> is the name
  239.        of the server. To access the server from launching the
  240.        InfoSearch client, use the same URL designation (or simply

  272.        When your machine is rebooted, _s_g_i_n_d_e_x_A_d_m_i_n is run
  273.        automatically.  It checks to verify if new content has been
  274.        installed and updates your InfoSearch database(s) in the
  275.        background (running in the process queue under a very low
  276.        priority; started from within /etc/init.d/configmsg).

  289.        InfoSearch attempts to make an educated guess at when
  290.        content may have been installed. It does a quick check of
  291.        the _i_n_s_t(1M) history file (/var/inst/hist) and compares it's
  292.        system modification date to the system modification date of
  293.        the InfoSearch index file(s). If the index files' date is
  294.        less than that of the _i_n_s_t(1M) history file, a warning
  295.        message will be printed on the main InfoSearch page when the
  296.        interface is invoked/accessed. This warning appears below
  297.        the search text field, and acts as a friendly reminder to
  298.        the administrator that _s_g_i_n_d_e_x_A_d_m_i_n may need to be run. An

  362.        Non-English language books can be searched, browsed and
  363.        viewed using InfoSearch (release 4.1 and beyond). You can do
  364.        so by invoking InfoSearch and clicking one of the non-
  365.        English "Books" categories, if available. This will take you
  366.        to a language-specific search capability. From there, you
  367.        can continue to browse the information, or perform a
  368.        language-specific search within that specific non-English
  369.        category of "Books".  This capability is only available if
  370.        you have localized books installed on your system (installed
  371.        from the various _W_o_r_l_d_V_i_e_w subsystems).

  373.        Searching localized (non-English) books also requires
  374.        installing the _i_n_f_o_s_e_a_r_c_h._s_w._l_1_0_n subsystem; along with any
  375.        _W_o_r_l_d_V_i_e_w*._i_n_d_e_x._b_o_o_k_s subsystem(s) for the localized
  376.        content (books) you have installed.
